    Any UK re-cappers out there??

Hi guys/girls...this is one mega site!!

I'm looking for someone/company to recap some boards for me in the United Kingdom.

..I'm not 100% sure whether they need recapping or they are just plain duff, but they all have the same symptoms, which are that none of them post!!!!

    Model numbers are GA-8SIMLNF & 8SIMLNF5

There's no obvious sign of cap damage but they are 2-3 year old boards and all display the same faults...

Anyone out there interested? If so let me know!!!

    Cheers

    Scott

I don't understand the minds of some recappers....
    by pentium
So I'm nowhere near as active here anymore as I used to be over a decade ago but that's mainly because I've been lost in a sea of subcontracting and NDA repair jobs. This one however really takes it.

My current workload is recapping a single model power supply. Nothing special, just a non-ATX form factor 150w thing with an extra 24v rail and no PWR-ON and PWR-OK pins. They are all about 20 years and sure enough, many still have their original OST blown out or out of spec but beyond a few common issues like an underrated resistor that BBQ's itself and a transistor that likes to roast...

LG 34UM68 backlight and 'chime' on start up, but no OSD or video
    by avisonjohn
I have an LG 34UM68 with board EAX66876002 but it has issues with not working correctly.

It powers on, backlight comes on, but there is no OSD shown, and no video shown on the screen.

I checked over the board for any obvious visual damage, and everything looked OK.

I then took a dump of the main SPI Flash chip.
I tried to take a dump from the EEPROM, but it would sometimes read data correctly, and other times would had obvious reading problems.

I managed to get a dump from it which somewhat resembled correct data - part of the...

Vestel 17IPS71 and MP3394S Backlight Problem
    by jdawg99
    Hi,

I having some trouble fixing a PSU fault on a TV. Basically the backlight would come on for 10 seconds or so and then shut off and I saw the voltage drop. On further inspection I found 2 burnt out led's on one of the 2 strips and replaced. The same fault still existed but I couldn't measure anything obviously wrong. Each string was roughly 35v and two in series was 70v tested fine with the LED tester. I went to replace the MP3394s but the board popped so I bought another board off Ebay as close as I could find. This time the tv powered up fine but still no backlight at all this...

    NVidia bumpgate
    by piernov
Just archiving everything related to bumpgate since most stuff has disappeared from Google. Maybe people will finally take the time to read some of it and stop shouting "reflow gpu" at every occasion but rather try to understand what the real issue is…
Interesting parts about the failure analysis are "Why Nvidia's chips are defective" and "Why Nvidia's duff chips are due to shoddy engineering"

May complete this post at a later date with more details.
Basically issue is a combination of thermal dissipation of the chip with hotspot,...
