      Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild

So Q701 is good, Q702 is ??, what's the resistance now for the 5v supply to it? I am getting confused where you're at. Is it still low ohms with the inverter and 5v reg out?
It should be about 6K although I do have one which was 4K but still operates correctly.

Took both of those out and they are good. The resistance for the 5v is low (about 26ohm)

Has the schmitt inverter been replaced yet?
Pin 7-8 could be ok but won't know without checking when I get back. I do know that they both read different in cct.

No, I have not removed it yet. Somewhat doubtful since pins 7,8 are not low.

What's the resistance between pin 15 & gnd (pins 9,10,13,15,16) or across D790. That's the 15V supply to those FET drivers.[/QUOTE]

pin15 is gnd. I do not have D790 on this model.....

        we're obviously muddled up.

        D16790? What's the resistance between pin 11 & gnd IC16521?

can you photograph the board an post please.

This SC does not have d16790. The resistance b/n pin 11 and gnd on IC16521 is 4.4k. I have a colleague that has one of those in working condition and he verified that his reads the same

Also started to remove the Qs and Ds from your list to see if the short on the 5v line goes away. Hope do not make it worse

How do you expect me to help fix your board when it is not the same as the one I fixed? My list and fault finding is for the TNPA5081 which yours is not. No wonder you can't locate some of the parts. Maybe some areas may help but I don't have all the answers for you. You won't be able to use that parts list, some parts may be the same but the IGBTs I doubt will and there locations probably won't either entirely match up.

                  Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild

Alright, found some time to get back into this project for my brothers tv!

So from what i found not all the transistors were shorted. As shown in the photo. Looks like the transistor on the left of the photo with the question mark (q661?) is only shorted from emitter to collector, was yours this way?

And the others in green are not shorted on any of the pins.

Also im not to sure how to check the other components correctly?

Appreciate your hard work, would love to fix this dang thing, cant find any online and id rather fix it myself than trust another board!

                    Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild

Q661 all boards was shorted. From memory it always failed short across all 3 pins. Short across 2 pins is still bad and I assume by short it's dead short, 0 ohms continuous beep in diode mode.

Pull it out and recheck if need be but I would expect that transistor to be shorted.

                    I see D16482 B0FACP000003 DIODE 1 RFN25TM4SWSHORT & Q16452 B1JAEP000012 TRANSISTOR 1 GT45G128 you have listed as SHORT.

None of mine were except the last which it only failed with repeated failed repair attempts.

The diode the 2 outer pins will show short, center to either outer will test like a normal diode.

If that one has failed I could not find that one to purchase unless you want to try a genuine part online from a panasonic stockist.

Interesting, i figure ill just replace all the stuff you replaced since i have it out! Do you by chance have a mouser.com list of the stuff you ordered? will the part numbers you posted earlier be similar and work on mouser? Thanks

                        Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild

I did not get anything from mouser although some items you may find on there.

I doubt you'll need the lot. You should be able to test in cct the resistors for abnormalities.

I do have a suggestion for some of these parts. If you purchase this board and scavange some parts from it which are also on the SC board.

                        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SS-Board-...item3f255cc964

i can't vouch for the seller, just a suggestion.

I believe it's free post in the US parts alone it's worth the $10. I used one of these and some parts are on that board as well as the SC.

Also for D16482, I got away with using a RF2001T3D from the SS board but also there's one marked FN25T4SW I think but that would be closer and 400V rated where the T3D is 300V but it worked in my last board. I blew that diode and transistor twice before I got the board working.

UTSOURCE or ebay but slow from china, only place I could find the panasonic IGBTs DG402 & 502. Or genuine but expensive that way.

Texas Instruments have direct replacements for TC7SH14F & TC7SH00FU. the suffix is important as it relates to the case size. The FU is a smaller package than the F.

I don't have the time now to do all the homework for you.

The true part numbers are in the list except the C541,C14 Ics which i don't think you'll need and I had to get from panasonic. I'd focus on these

                            Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild

Hey guys, slight thread bump... this is the best source of info for this board that I was able to find. My TC-P54G25 just bit the dust, pretty much 3 years on the nose from when I bought it! Got the 10 blink code, so I disconnected the ribbon & power to the SC board and it went to 6. My first question is, is the damage usually isolated to the SC board or do the SD & SU boards get fried too? Thanks to this thread I was able to find some components that were bad. I'm an amateur when it comes to troubleshooting, I work with electronics as my job but we're far more into the replacement industry if you know what I mean. So far here is my list of dead components (checked when removed from circuit):

                            D482
                            Q452
                            Q401
                            Q402
                            Q403
                            Q421
                            Q422
                            Q423
                            Q660
                            Q661
                            R452
                            R551

Is it assumed the FET drivers always go on these(IC501, IC521)? Also, what's the best way to check those double transistors? (Q551, Q521, Q501, Q531) I don't have the board in front of me right now but no pins were shorted except where the bases connect obviously. One other thing I found was a 13 ohm reading across the 5V reg. from common to output (IC771). I took it out of circuit and the resistance is still there. The reg. itself is showing about 5.6k now if I remember correct.

                              Re: Panasonic sc tnpa5081 rebuild

Remove IC773, Toshiba TC7SH14F, marking HA, Schmitt NOT. Short should then be cleared. Test both input and output of that small 5V reg or simply replace that too.

Locate in the schematic that inverter IC and pay close attention to all those small transistors, diodes, fet.

If this is not working correctly Q661 will blow and further damage may result in the fault spreading to lots of other stuff.

Should be covered somewhere in this thread, the last board I fixed was a result of missing something here.

Your best chance is your first attempt of repair, be patient. Some of these smaller parts are easy and common to find, any doubt I would say replace.

Measure resistance for P5V and P15V lines in at SC20 for indication.

I have 50" boards here I can cross reference results in cct, 54" will have extra IGBT and Diodes but that should not stop you using my repair info.

suprised to see Q660, that's all the big stuff, time to hit all those little bits.

IC521 FET driver is fairly common to fail and sometimes the surrounding components like those little npn-pnp 5pin transistors.

IC501 usually ok, none replaced but one board I got away with none. probably good idea to replace 521 , can go short or low ohms on the 15V line and open on some pins 6,7,8?

Yes, buffers do short, 50/50 chance, I would make checking these mandatory unless you want to risk blowing the SC again which I stupidly did

I appreciate the reply. Good call on the inverter, removed from circuit and the 13ohms went away. In it's current state, I'm getting 5.6k on PV5... this is black probe on ground. If I switch probes it goes to 5.24k. PV15 is 2.66k black probe on ground, switched it becomes 1.55k. Takes a sec for readings on PV15 (caps charging?) Also, I'm getting a ~65 ohm reading on collector to emitter on Q702. I will check my buffer boards when I get home.

5v line is normal, 15V looks ok too, there's a chance the FET driver is ok at this stage at least. The 15V feeds those , we'll do more pin out checks later.

I found if you get this wrong and you'll get a blowup everytime of Q661.
Q661,Q818,Q701,Q702,D702,IC771,IC773, maybe Q810 you'd have to go back with my lists of parts

Do you do any of this stuff before like you have panasonic sustain boards laying around for scrap parts?

Unfortunately no scrap boards for parts, going to have to go shopping. This is my first attempt at a TV repair. I'm in no hurry though, already bought a new Panny S60... my brother will get the G25 if I can fix it. Looks like my buffer boards survived, getting a little over 2M on the VFOs & right at 219k on VCS-F.

Sounds good, so the larger 5v SMD reg that feeds the buffer boards, check that both gnd-in & out expect it ok since buffers are ok usually that has failed when the buffers are shorted.
