    Laptop LCD? Mod it?

Recently I had several HP/Toshiba laptops come in that were DOA and not fixable due to BGA/underfill issue. Owners no longer wanted them and just the data was return to the owners. SO now I have parts galore here. Recently I went to a lan party with a desktop and 15" LCD. I was thinking I have several laptop LCD at home, why not just mod one and mounted it to my case so I don't have to carry an extra monitor around.

So is there anyway to wire one up or build something to interface it and have it connect through to DVI cable?

I just want to know before I start ripping one apart.

There's a version with VGA/DVI and another one with VGA/DVI/HDMI too, but those are just the bare controller boards (no keypad, no LVDS cable, no inverter), so you'd have to buy those parts seperately in their shop.

You basically tell the seller what LCD panel you have and they preprogram it before shipping. You could do that yourself, but the programmer they offer costs more than twice of what the controller boards/kits cost.

      That's always an option.

I've been reading up on it, looks like most panels use LVDS.

I really want to build my own. I'm doing it for the cool factor though. I just want to go to a lan party and just said I built that and grin like a motherfucker.

I read a TI datasheet example I need a DVI RX chip and LVDS TX chip.

It doesn't say anything about programming and that's the one skill I don't possess but I do know someone who may help me in Sweden.

Is there any place I can get a schematic or base examples from?
