    The reason is that Seatools doesn't give a damn about SMART, unless it's 'officially' tripped.
    Hitachi Drive Fitness Tool is like that as well.
    I only use it to perform low level formats on IBM/Hitachi HDDs and occasionally perform a fitness test.
    But even the fitness test doesn't tell me that much, because I've tested HDDs that I know are definitely going bad (bad sectors and/or high load/unload cycle count and constant clicking) and Hitachi DFT reported them as good.

      Yeah I think most if not all the diagnostic tools are like that

      HDAT2 is the best choice in my opinion as it does pretty much everything you need, on any drive.
