My n5110 got shorted when I was trying to fix my touchpad while the laptop was on. I accidentally dropped a small screw on the board and it died right away. After inspection i found out that there is no 3.3v_s5 or 5v_s5 but i did have Vreg3 and Vreg5 voltage. I also noticed the whole 3.3v_s5 rail is shorted. I lifted up the mosfets of TPS51123 and TPS51123 itself but still couldn't find the short.
I lifted up the inductor/coil which is connected to 3.3v_S5 and gave 3.3v direct with Power supply set at 3.3v and TPS51311(1.8v_s0) started getting hot so I removed the IC and now 3.3v_S5 short is gone but now there is a short on output of 1.5v_PWR.
Can I follow the same method to find a short? I hope this method won't do any further damage?
