My n5110 got shorted when I was trying to fix my touchpad while the laptop was on. I accidentally dropped a small screw on the board and it died right away. After inspection i found out that there is no 3.3v_s5 or 5v_s5 but i did have Vreg3 and Vreg5 voltage. I also noticed the whole 3.3v_s5 rail is shorted. I lifted up the mosfets of TPS51123 and TPS51123 itself but still couldn't find the short.
I lifted up the inductor/coil which is connected to 3.3v_S5 and gave 3.3v direct with Power supply set at 3.3v and TPS51311(1.8v_s0) started getting hot so I removed the IC and now 3.3v_S5...

Re: Dell N5110 Plugged in, charging but not charging
Just repaired my n5110 charging issue. Surprisingly it was a water damage around the charging ic BQ24745. Upon close inspection I saw a small white patches on the board which I couldn't see at first.
CSSP and CSSP (pin 28 and pin 27) line was damaged due to heat and blew off the diode of the board D3902. Got a replacement diode and fixed the PCB lines which got burned with a thin wire.
Everything seems to be working fine now

Re: Dell N5110 Not Power ON
I did check other IC's as well but still no luck.
IC's that I checked by lifting them to find a shot are
TPS51311 = 1.8V_S0 (takes 3.3v_S5 as input)
TPS51116 =1.5v
ISL95831= VCC core
Bios
3.3v mosfet
5v mosfet
TPS51123 = only vreg3 and vreg5 voltages. I disconnected the 5v rail and 3.3v rail by lifting up the inductors. No short before the inductor though, I think the IC is gone( it gets hot when i plug the supply).
The capacitor on PCH(HM67)...

Dell N5110 Plugged in, charging but not charging
My N5110 recently stopped charging the battery, usually people get plugged in not charging issue but my issue is different. I have checked the charger and the battery on other n5110, and its working fine.
Bios detect the charger wattage but when I go to diagnostic mode by pressing f12 I see the error charger is not detected but it also show the correct wattage of charger.
The processor cannot achieve full speed, it's always stuck at 0.76 Mhz,
I figured out a way to solve this problem by using throttlestop software. When I disable BD PROCHOT it starts to work...
