Does anyone have any advice on unsoldering a WSON 8 Bios chip that is enclosed in (what looks like) a soic adapted 8 plastic housing?
It's held in by a plastic clip but also what looks and feels like some type of adhesive or glue so it doesn't come out easily. I was thinking of getting rid of the entire plastic housing and just swapping it with a normal soic 8 replacement

I bought several Getac v110 G6s and G1s used and they all have (assumed) the same supervisory password on them. After dumping the bios of the G1 and looking through the EFI vars and the nvram section i cant seem to find where the hashed or plaintext password might be. I also saw that the password may be stored in an EC which im unsure if i can access.
Ideally i dont have the UEFI unpassed - instead im more or less looking to figure out how exactly to do it myself. Also, the SystemOemGetacs and its GUUID did not appear for me in this dump nor in the other copies i read off the chip.... -
Im gate and i primarily specialize in C programming as well as python. I write various tui and cli programs that perform basic functions but while taking up as little resource as possible. Im also actively developing a web-server so people can host their own video content on their network (or over wireguard where legal) to access similar to a streaming service.
Other than programming i also repair electronics and work with micro-controllers to make various devices to suite whatever need my brain wants at that moment.Leave a comment:
