  • I wanted to follow up and wrap this thread up. After trying every official BIOS version from F3 through F9 on my GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev 1.0, I kept running into the same errors — “Invalid BIOS Image” in Q-Flash and “Series number incorrect” in bios. Even attempts with DOS, FreeDOS, and 32-bit VMs to extract a flashable file didn’t work.

Based on all of this, it looks like F2 is the highest BIOS version this board revision will actually accept. Later versions seem to be designed for newer revisions, and the board simply won’t recognize them. It’s disappointing, but F2 is stable and...

  • I’m on version F2. I’ve tried all BIOS versions from F3 through F9 on my GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev 1.0, but every single one gives the “Invalid BIOS Image” error in Q-Flash

However, I haven’t tried them in order, guess it’s worth trying again

should I keep all the files on the root of the hard drive or in a folder? How exactly does the flasher work?...

  • I double-checked the GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev. 1.0 manual, and it looks like Q-Flash is supposed to accept BIOS files named after the board model (e.g., 990FXAUD3.F9).

I tried that exact naming convention — only that one file on a freshly-formatted FAT32 USB stick (under 32 GB, rear USB 2.0 port, no folders) — but Q-Flash still throws the same “Invalid BIOS Image” error.

From what I can tell, the .F9 file in the official download isn’t a full binary image; it’s a firmware container meant to be unpacked by the old FlashSPI.EXE utility. The manual doesn’t mention...

  • Request — Verified 99FXAUD3.BIN (GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev 1.0, BIOS F9)

    Hello everyone,

I’m trying to update a GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev 1.0 motherboard to BIOS version F9. The official Gigabyte package includes 99FXAUD3.F9 and an AUTOEXEC/.BAT converter, but despite multiple attempts (DOSBox, FreeDOS, 32-bit Windows VM), I haven’t been able to generate a usable .BIN file.

I’m looking for a verified copy of 99FXAUD3.BIN (F9) for Rev 1.0. If anyone has one, please provide:
    1. Board revision confirmation (must be Rev 1.0)
    2. SHA256 or SHA1 checksum of the BIN
    3. How the BIN was generated (from Gigabyte .exe, physical DOS machine, etc.)
    4. Optional: a trusted
