Hi,
I've got this laptop for parts, no historical. When I try to power on, blue led lights up for 1s and stop, with or without battery. Battery is charging good - orange led is lit.
I've checked ALW voltage, 5v is here, but 3v is missing and I found a short on +3VS.
I've isolated this rail, and injected 1v/1a and found a heating resistor behind the CPU (on the other side), on boardview, it's connected to +3VS on one side, and +3VS_APU on other side.
I've removed it, no more short on +3VS, but +3VS_APU is still shorted (3Ω to the ground) and only other pins are under... -

I've just tried, it's kind of stuck in a boot loob, power + esc + caps are light, and I see the screen flickering once and the fan spinning and it restart few times, then it's back to my original state, only power button light.
If I clear CMOS, I'm back at the loop boot state.

Just before the 2 coils L6805 and L6806, there is a 0 ohm resistor PR6815 that was dead. I've shunted it and the surface now boot

Surface Pro 4 X911788-008 - No boot
Hi,
A friend bring me his Surface Pro 4 X911788-008, it won't boot at all.
It charges, battery is fine, cpu and ssd are heating when I press power (I can shutdown by pressing 15s power).
I've mesured voltage of all inductances after pressing power, everything is fine except 2 that are at 0v, I think they are used for iGPU.
There resistance is 2.5ohms.
I've found schematics and board view here , they are for i7 suface, mine is i5, but not so much difference.
0v coils are L6805 and L6806.
I've checked shorted mosfets... -
Yes, and I've got bad luck with theses keyboards:
1st one (the original) : was working but lot of keys was destroyed by last owner
2nd one (refurbished) : not working at all
3rd one (refurbished) : worked maybe 30mn, then I started having issues and finally broke
The 3rd one was the worst as the laptop cannot boot at all when plugged in, even when shorting power button....Leave a comment:

Hello, I'm back with this laptop, I decided to dump the EC but before, just tried to boot again, and the keyboard lighted up and fans spinned, and no picture. CPU, GPU and PCH was warm.
I've flashed back original BIOS, but cannot boot (sometimes not at all, sometimes only keyboard light and fan).
Power on doesn't work with keyboard, I have to use a tweezer on the connector.
If the keyboard is connected, I cannot power on, even with tweezer.
And finally, after charging the battery for a while and booting withtout the keybord (I only let backlight ribbon connecte),...Leave a comment:

Here is my dump, but i dont know which one is the bios or firmware as there is 2 different chip, MX25L25673G and MX25V8035F so I've dumped both.

SAPPHIRE NITRO+ RADEON RX 570 4GB - No picture
Hello,
I got a SAPPHIRE NITRO+ RADEON RX 570 4G that has no picture.
I see no dmg on the board.
Fans and RGB are working.
I can see the card on Windows with an other GPU, but with an error in device management.
When I try to install last driver, it freeze.
I've tried to boot on Arch linux to do a meme test, and it freeze at boot.
Here is my resistance measurements :
Vcore seems low. What can I check next ?

Quick update and end of this thread. I've got some help from a discord channel, and we figured out there was a short on the anode of the replaced diode.
It's certainly a diode for RTC_VCC, and after injected voltage, I saw the PCH heating , so dead motherboard :')
