The hard drive works, I tested it separately as an external hard drive. Now, the laptop just doesn't see a hdd.
So, if I was getting to the Bitlocker screen before flashing the bios eeprom then you think the laptop was definitely communicating with the hard drive? And, if so, now that it's not working I must have created the problem with my soldering...
I was a bit weary of swapping the chip in and out so much.

I've done that, I can get to the install windows screen but because the laptop doesn't recognise any hdd installed I can't get any further. I'm guessing it's the motherboard because I tried it with a working Surface Laptop 4 hdd too. I didn't/couldn't check whether it could see a hdd before I asked for help with the bitlocker/uefi locks. It's not an urgent problem, the laptop is for personal use, I don't have a customer waiting....Leave a comment:

The Laptop cannot access it's own ssd to install the OS onto so I will have to investigate further. I'm guessing that this was the original fault before it was disposed of. Thanks for all the help, I'd have no idea how to bypass bitlocker ect. without your assistance....Leave a comment:

Unfortunately, it didn't work. It just goes to the plain windows screen then switches off...
I removed and reflowed the winbond eeprom but I got the same response on power up again.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd be glad to read them but I'm not sure how many times I'd be comfortable removing the chip again....Leave a comment:
