Re: Onkyo HT-R591 keeps clicking
Earlier I took out all the boards and checked all the joints and re flowed a couple that looked iffy but nothing was clearly broken.. put it all back together with same results.. amp is clicking (relay on ps board before main trans).. everything seems to be getting power when metered 23.6v or so.. When I unplug the P911 from ps board to main trans it stops clicking.. not real sure what else to check. All the final transistors and ceramic resistors are ok. /shrug...

Re: Onkyo HT-R591 keeps clicking
Can i check the main transformers thermal fuse with it still connected?

Re: Onkyo HT-R591 keeps clicking
That's what I was reading right off the pins but noticed I had a bad ground.. off the main transformer output I'm seeing 23.5v off each pin. Not sure what it should be though

Re: Onkyo HT-R591 keeps clicking
On P911 I see 32.5v on one side and 13.4v on the other side

Re: Onkyo HT-R591 keeps clicking
I have HT-R590 manual not 591

Re: Onkyo HT-R591 keeps clicking
Thought I had the proper service manual but I guess it's for a HT-R591 not a 591.. any chance you have it to share?

Re: Onkyo HT-R591 keeps clicking
Finally had a chance to take some readings.. looks like all the final transistors are good. And the white ceramic resistors in front of them all same reading of 0.2 ohm on one side and 0.5ohm in series. What else to check ?...

OK, to check the final transistors do I have to remove them from the circuit or can I test them while still in circuit?...

Not really sure where to meter and what voltages should be at? I'm a novice at working on these so forgive me in advance - Still in the learning stages....

Re: Onkyo HT-R591 keeps clicking
Which joints are you referring to? At the transformer or just everywhere?.. Also what should my voltages be off the output of the main transformer? does around 20v each coil sound right?...

Re: Onkyo HT-R591 keeps clicking
Sorry to resurrect sort of an old thread but I'm having a similar issue to this one and I've checked the thermal fuse - OK. My receiver powers up eventually (after being plugged in 30 mins or more). But turns off and on rapidly and won't stop unless unplugged. The thermal fuse is showing closed circuit. The input on transformer is getting voltage and output is around 20v each coil. What should I be checking next?
