Toshiba 42xv505d - clicks on clicks off.

So trying to repair this toshiba TV.
Opened it up to be met by a blown secondary fuse and badly shorted STR-Z2589.
I've repaired on of these in the past and replacing both usually fixed the problem. I checked all the surrounding parts and was confident that installing a new IC and fuse and it would hopefully be up and running.

    Will continue in a moment...

So after installing the new parts the tv clicked on, red light on the mainboard, blue light on the tcon. Thought great another one saved form the skip....

Then it clicked back off again....

Checked the fuse, still good, checked the IC still good.
Unplugged inverter, still clicked on and off, unplugged t-con remained the same.

    So checked voltages.

    24v going to inverter.
    All voltages reading normal
0v when in standby, 24.46 when powered on. Then drop back to 0 when it clicks off.

Checked voltages to Main AV board.

    All voltages appear accurate.
All read 0 apart from 5.1v stand by. (When in standby)

    Powered on they read.
    GND - 0
    5.1 - 5.040
    12v - 11.62
    12v - 11.62
    12v - 11.62
    Gnd -0
    Power Tv - 4.9
    Pow DB - 4.89
    Gnd- 0
    24v - 24.46
    NC - 3.82
    18v audio - 18.19
    Gnd - 0

    all seem to be good.

    Tbc....

Re: Toshiba 42xv505d - clicks on clicks off.

So finally we have this connector here, also to the main board.
To me this is the one that's cause for concern.

Pow Pro - 1.7v is the only voltage showing in standby all the others are 0.

When powered on the voltages are:

Pow pro - drops slightly from 1.7 to 1.6
      Pow sig - 3.82
      Ac detect - 3.62
      Stop fan - 0
      Pow LCD - 0
      Gnd-0
      Gnd-0
      12v - 0
      12v - 0

I take it the main board isn't sending pow lcd...

during writing this I decided to put a jumper from 5.1v to the pow LCD and both the missing 12v rails came up.

So would I be confident in assuming the main board is the only fault?
Anyone with any experience in this model?

      Thanks

Use the remote to turn it on. (Or universal one.)
If that works, then go into user menu and disable the Panel Lock function.

Don't ask how long it took me to figure this one out. Will click on and off if you use the front button otherwise.

Tom you are a genius, it worked...
I have no idea why it worked but it worked!

I can't find the panel lock function though.... Is that in a service menu?
What about a factory reset? Would that reset the mainboard?

            In fact scratch that.
I found it in TV set up.

            Tv works perfectly.

Can't remember - it's some stupid option - maybe child lock? Just look for a lock option somewhere. It is a user menu option.
I've fixed two of these TVs just by using the remote, bought them pretty cheap, almost felt bad it was so easy :/
