This set was a curb find. ALMOST did not grab it--figured the screen was busted--but it looked ok Also--had the stand with it. SO, I grabbed it--to give it a chance. Had the panel been wasted--I would have put it back out i the trash, after stripping .
I found that I had no standby voltage. Q-601, STR W6756, standby smps IC, did not appear to be working. No output from standby SMPS. I forced on run SMPS_-worked fine. I did NOT really want to spend money on another SMPS not knowing panel condition--and besides--I figured I could fix this one.
So--I ordered a new chip--and installed it. till--no output. Looked abit more--and found DE15, "27B", a 27 volt zener--shorted. Having none around--but wanting to know the panel condition--I rigged together 4 6.8 volt zeners in series--for testing. This DID work--and panel is NOT damaged. DVD player also works--something I did NOT know when I got the tv set.
SO--now--I will get a correct zener and the formed power cord, and the set is fixed. (some "genius" cut off original cord..). Likely going be be a "thank you gift " to a close friend.
