    LG 60PK540 video went out

I have an LG 60PK540-UE.AUSLLJR about 2 years old at the most. Yesterday, my wife said she saw a red blob on the screen and it was making a buzzing sound. I disconnected all power and cables from it last night and hooked it back up just now.

I can get audio to come from it, but no video and the buzz is still there - not even the blob - nothing on the screen.

So - how bad is it? Is this something a relative novice can troubleshoot with the collective expertise here or should I call LG service?

Thanks in advance for any guidance - Scott

Does the buzzing sound a bit like this?

If so you have sudden unexplained panel cracking. Not repairable unfortunately. It can be caused by a manufacturing defect, previous damage to the panel (a chip or impact which did not crack) or just random bad luck.

Yes - the buzzing is exactly like that. I took a flashlight and found the crack on the lower right-hand side. That sucks.

If I am lucky, it will still be under warranty...

      Thank you for your assistance!

Good luck. LG will try to claim it is your fault, even if it is not. Samsung had a huge problem with this ages ago. Panasonic had it too, though only on a few models. I've actually not heard of sudden panel failure on an LG yet, but I could see why it could happen with these super thin panels.
