Tweaking 2008 Panasonic Plasma Panels for deeper black level

I just can't let it work fine can I

    Subject/Victim: TH-42PZ80B with PDP MD-42GF11E1 (1080p 42"), Aug 2008 manufacture date.

Just finished a black level tweaking session. Before the tweak, black level was identical to my 46" (TH-46PZ80B.)

    STOCK: Vsus=204.5V, Ve=156.5V, Vad=-140V.

Tweaks: Set Ve to 132V (minimum.) Set Vad to -128V. Set Vsus to 209V.

The panel now appears to have a black level around a quarter of what my 46" has. It looks really, really good.

I managed to get a lower black level with a Vad of -120V, however, the panel began to have significant maldischarge. Specifically a white stripe pattern showed a cyan tint in the middle of the panel. So, I had to increase the Vsus and Vad to remove the maldischarge. Lower than -120V lead to a 6 (7?) blink shutdown I guess due to the SOS detect. I feel without the SOS detect I could get to -115V with a significantly higher Vsus (215V or so), however, I fear this would lead to a PSU shut down in high brightness scenes due to current/power limiting.

I did not adjust the ramp timing (INIT-F i stock.) Adjusting it did not appear to improve the black level.

I'll shortly compile a video and upload it to here and AVSForum where I go through the steps in getting the minimum black level from these panels. I'm going to try with my 46" soon, after I verify that this panel is stable.

Unfortunately none of the black scenes came out well in the video, you'll just have to take my word for it on the black level change.
