Potential buy - samsung le26s86bd

Hi all,

I have lurking around for quite some time now and have been offered a samsung le26s86bd tv for cheap.

According to the owner the tv is working intermittendly, with the image and sound cutting out from time to time.

Apparently a gentle tap on the back of the tv makes it going again.

Is it safe to assume it's a bad connector or worst case a general psu problem ?

I feel conffortable troubleshooting and/or recapping the unit, would just like to avoid any expensives boards as it's a small screen..

It's my understanding it cannot be on of the different "other" boards based on the description of the problem.

Any input is highly appreciated.

A lot of these Samsung TVs have problems with BGA bondings on the main board, a lot like the old Xbox RROD problems.

Have you , or anyhere on the forum, solved this problem by a reflow ?

Never tried myself. I know one user tried, it worked, but it failed within short order. IMO, I would let it pass unless it's very cheap.
