DVR password reset

hello to every one i have a dvr digital video recorder i buy it from my friend but i can not login into manu when i press menu itb asks for admin passward my friend have been forgotten the password how can i reset my dvr to work with it and to have the access to manu and other settings for camras and recording.......hope to get the answar soon
