It would be interesting if that fixes it. I haven't heard of a diode partially breaking down before, which is what this must be. Very odd.

I have the same tv as the op samsung ps50, which also has the same power supply BN44-00274B.

And just like the op it would appear I have noise coming from the CP801 cap
Marked as 2J105J SIC 460S, also just like the op removal of the diode just right of the cap resulted in the tv working correctly.

After replacing the diode the noise is back again.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I was thinking of replacing the 2J105J SIC 460S and the three caps across the top, but I don't seem to able to find a new 2J105J SIC 460S cap.

Also would using the tv without the diode cause any problems?

It would show as rolling bars. However, the main issue is the cheap Samwha caps have to take a lot more ripple current so they won't last which will eventually lead to problems.

If you upgraded the main capacitors to at least 1.5 x TV power consumption (ex. 450W max, so use 675uF or 680uF min) it would likely work fine from 230V. I would say though you should try to keep it as close to factory spec as possible.

Maybe i am to late. The issue described in the head of this thread can be resolved by replacing ICP801 L4981A. This Ic is responsible for driving the PFC Fet-s.
