Maybe, maybe not.

I can think of several reasons to meet in a public place.

1) safety for you and your family
2) strangers scoping out my place and stuff inside it and looking for alarm systems
3) endless parade of people knocking on my door
4) people showing up late knocking on my door well past bedtime
