    Need help with Samsung HP-S4253

    Hello Guys,

My name is Adam and I like fixing things. I usually work on cars, but once in a while I like to tackle electronics. My expertise with TV's is limited o the voltmeter, swapping components and replacing caps

So, I haven't used this TV in a few weeks. I turn it on and well it looks like crap. The whole screen is covered with random colored pixels. After the set warms up the picture improves a bit. There is two areas of the screen that are distorted. The top and a wide horizontal bar towards the bottom, which changes with the resolution.

The picture below shows it on 1080i

on 480i the bottom bar goes away.

Any ideas? I'm thinking it's the mainboard as the OSD is not affected.

Definitely a problem on the main board, probably in the scalar circuitry; maybe the chip itself, maybe a memory chip. I'd say replace the main board.

For a number of reasons, both health and personal, I will no longer be active on this board. Any PMs asking for assistance will be ignored.

I'm having a hard time finding a replacement board at a reasonable price, is there any way to fix it? The flash memory chip looks like it has some residue on it "looks like sweat" I was wondering if there is a way to reload the firmware to see if it would help, however I can't seem to find any firmware updates on the samsung website.
