My girlfriends parents have this tv and every once in a while the sound will be really low or not work at all even if its turned up all the way, it does not do this all the time but just every once in a while, I cannot take it apart right now but if there is anything I can check without taking it apart let me know thanks

I'd lightly tap on it in a few places near the speakers/volume controls. Just to see if it somewhat changes. Also try to reset settings to default. You never know when someone has accidentally set it to a wierd mode, it happens.
