Samsung 2007 50 inch Plasma Display Problems

    Hi all,

First time post here in my last ditch effort to save my plasma tv. Here are the details:

    Samsung 50inch Plasma
    Manufactured Sep 2007
    Model: FP-T5084
    Model Code: FPT5084X/XAA

I noticed the problem about 6 months ago. You will notice reddish colored vertical lines across the entire screen in the picture. Also the colors are a bit dull. Initially the snowy red lines would go away after powering down for awhile but then always come back. Now the lines and off color is there all the time. The onboard diagnostics did nothing to clear up the image.

This first image is of a blank screen:

The others are with the tv playing. This happens when using my PS3 as well.

Please advise and thank you for your input.

    Regards,

    Bernie

Please don't post pictures inline. I ticks many of us off and more important, it causes problems for retiredcaps.

Probable cause - one or more buffers are bad. Reference: The first set of pictures in the October 25th blog posting from Coppell TV Repair (They are about 1/3 of the way down the page). Different TV, same manufacturer, same ICs used in the buffer.

    No warranty on this advice.
