Disco ball adapter Fail ( No Power )

Hi there repairing this one while waiting on parts for my other power supply.
The adapter just died its 13.5 VDC @ 2 A so on testing I found a short on the output diode SR3010010? can't make out the last number/Letter but it's a dual diode with output on the center pin the bit that I don't understand is the center pin has been cut off and the two pins that go into the board are shorted together with the connection on the board I have included pictures. So I don't understand what exactly the diode is doing in the circuit. So any help or explanation will be much appreciated.

centre pin will be same as the tab and connected through heat sink .

Parallel connection of a double diode to increase the current load.
