I have been trying to upgrade my desktop PSU with 350 Watt PSU that came from an HP desktop, reason being the HP PSU has 24 pin socket that fits my motherboard, I also intent to install a NVidia PCIE card later on.
The PC boots with the CPU fan running but does not get to the post screen, no video. The power switch will not shut down the PSU within 10-40 seconds.
What I've noticed and read about is this HP PSU does not have the -5 Volt used for ISA cards although the rest of the wiring is identical as with the voltages, this motherboard has 2 expansion ports and a PCIE port, the PC should work without the -5 volts.
Would the reason be that the PCIE does not have the card installed, I would think the PC should start and shut down without the PCIE card???
