Compaq PS-5351-1 PSU

Hello all,
I have two of this PSUs from the old server. It was my intention to use
one of them as a power supply for sub woofer amplifier. Unfortunately one of them left the magic smoke out the moment I plugged it in the wall, the other did not but the green led on the back is not lightning, but maybe it only lights when to PSU is turned on which I obviously don't know how to do without motherboard. I am not interested in repairing them, only which lines to short to ground I presume to try powering up.

The 12V rail is pretty weak though... how big is your amplifier??

mine is not very big but I am a great technician

- 40 rms x 4 @ 4 Ohm
- 50 rms x 4 @ 2 Ohm
- 40 rms x 2 + 100 rms x 1 @ 4 Ohm
- 100 rms x 2 @ 4 Ohm

Only 168W on the 12V rail, you would also need dummy load resistors (like 4.7 ohm 10W on the 5V and 3.3V rail, in order to make the PSU happier

Hello pc7fan,
and thank you for your input, obviously Compaq is not suitable even if I manage to power it on.
I have another PSU from old Intel server, DELTA ELECTRONICS DPS-600RB and it works but what bothers me is a loud fan noise, any way to silence it or delete it completely? Can I use two 12V rails in parallel?
