There were no short circuit detected on the 19V, main power rail of the motherboard. However, when the adaptor was plugged in and the voltage reading taken, it was identified that the voltage wasn't going beyond the first power mosfet and unto the rest of the motherboard.
An identical mosfet was found and removed from an acer nitro 5 donor board, the faulty mosfet was swapped out and the voltage reading was again measured.
