There is some missing info in the Boardview which led me on a wild goose chase for a bit. I had to buy the schematic. Troubleshooting this problem without schematic would not be possible with this current boardview.

Board symptoms were dead after a screen replacement at another repair shop. 3D3V_AUX_S5 was low at 0.4V, with thermal camera showing hot spot on D4301. Removed diode and LDO comes back up, charge light comes on, but won't power on. Boardview gives you the impression that the cathode end is connected to Pin 1 of the battery connector which is ground. But this is not the case as the NET for this is missing so is marked as NC. It is in fact connected to 3D3V_LID and 3D3V_RTC_PWR, which was shorted to ground. Found this to be cause by ED4301 (AZC099-04S), which was short to ground on pin 5. This is an ESD protection device for the battery SCL/SDA data lines. Assumption is that last repairer paid no attention to ESD in their work area. Cowboys.

Removed and refitted D4301 and system boots up. Waiting on a replacement ED4301 as didn't have one of these in stock.

Damn, just bought it for $9 AUD. Oh well.

Stole a replacement AZC099-04S off a HP 450 G3 motherboard (seems a lot of boards use this ESD protection chip). All working ok. Ordered a bunch of them for stock from China.

I`ve removed the schematic you posted,as there`s no point having 2 here. The one posted by AL._.EX is the same but has no annoying advertising watermark
