    post S/T, motherboard model,post the contents of the bios chip even if it is corrupted.. ,etc.

    25Q256JV is the right chip. The wires you`ve soldered are very long, they should be as short as possible. If you still can`t read from it recheck you have soldered the wires the right way. The most reliable way is to desolder the chip and put it in/on an adapter board.

    No. You must use a programmer to make a full backup.

    I used Universal BIOS backup toolkit. The backup file ends in .rom the 2nd time I made it save as .bin. Let me know if I need to do anything different. All help is greatly appreciated.
