Bios programming bricked my HP EliteBook 850 G2

I needed to remove a bios password from a HP EliteBook 850 G2.

First I tried reading the bios with a SOIC8 clip but I read somewhere this wasn't working on some laptops. This is also the case with the HP EliteBook 850 G2.

After desoldering the chip I could read the bios and make a backup. The only clean bios I did find was this one https://***********/threads/hp-elitebook-850-g2.19340/
I programmed this bios on the chip and soldered the chip back in the motherboard. I started the laptop and the only thing it did was a blicking power button every couple of seconds and blincking front lights.
I thought well, this bios isn't good so I desoldered it, installed the backup bios and same story after soldering it back on.

I thought it was maybe bad soldering so I tested without a bios but I got totally different results. The power light blinked once when AC was inserted and thats it.

    What could be the problem?

First find the schematics of this laptop and mention the mainboard ID.
Did you verify the Bios chip content after each programming?

      Where can I find this?

I verified after the first programming. Second time I forgot. 1 connection was a bit loose but I think it made connection. I am a bit cautius to keep re-soldering the chip before I brake it.

you can search this forum or google it for the schematics.
verification is very important because the Bios chip may get damaged after each reflowing due to the heat. In addition, take care whether any capacitor or resistor is displaced on the mainboard due to reflowing.

If the chip is damaged. Can you see this back in reading or writing the content on it?

A Bios damage may be hidden when reading or writing. but it can be detected when verifying. It is also possible that some other component is damaged, and not the Bios IC. but this case should be tested after ensuring Bios is healthy.

How would I detect it and which software should I be using? I dont think other components are damaged because there are no near components which got hot.

your programmer software probably does the verification too.
