I needed to remove a bios password from a HP EliteBook 850 G2.
First I tried reading the bios with a SOIC8 clip but I read somewhere this wasn't working on some laptops. This is also the case with the HP EliteBook 850 G2.
After desoldering the chip I could read the bios and make a backup. The only clean bios I did find was this one https://***********/threads/hp-elitebook-850-g2.19340/
I programmed this bios on the chip and soldered the chip back in the motherboard. I started the laptop and the only thing it did was a blicking power button every couple of seconds and blincking front lights.
I thought well, this bios isn't good so I desoldered it, installed the backup bios and same story after soldering it back on.
I thought it was maybe bad soldering so I tested without a bios but I got totally different results. The power light blinked once when AC was inserted and thats it.
What could be the problem?
