Hi everyone,
Iโm working on a non-booting HP Envy x360 2-in-1 laptop and need verified firmware dumps for both the main BIOS and EC chip. Iโll be posting my own backups for reference and comparison.
๐ System Details

- Product Number: 7HVO3UA#ABA
- Build ID: 23WW2GQZ6D
- Motherboard: JPR50 LA-M794P Rev: 1.0 (2023-03-03)
- Motherboard SPS: N30979-ABA
- LCD SPS: N49271-601
- Date Code: 172380

๐ง Chip Info
- Main BIOS chip: Winbond W25Q128JVSQ (16MB SPI NOR)
- EC chip: Winbond W25Q80DYSIG (1MB SPI NOR, 3.3V)
โ ๏ธ Current Symptoms
- Laptop does not power on with AC adapter alone.
- When plugged in without battery, I hear a high-pitched coil whine from the board.
- Whine disappears when battery is connected, but system still doesnโt boot.
- No fan spin, no LED activity, no POST.
- Iโve already backed up both BIOS and EC chips using CH341A and will share those dumps.
๐จ What Iโve Done
- Flashed updated BIOS:
- Used HP vendor BIOS (F.11) and attempted hex modifications to merge identity data.
- Flash completed but system behavior did not change.
- Reflashed EC from backup:
- Dumped the original EC firmware from the W25Q80DY chip.
- Attempted to reflash the backup image, but erase/write operations failed due to protection bits.
- System remained in the same non-booting state.
- Tried prior BIOS from EFI partition:
- Extracted the recovery BIOS from the EFI partition on the hard drive.
- Flashed it externally, but the laptop still shows identical symptoms.
- Current state:
- AC-only power produces a high-pitched coil whine, no boot.
- Whine disappears with battery connected, but system still does not power on.
- No fan spin, LEDs, or POST activity.
โ What Iโm looking for
- Any guidance really...
- A verified working BIOS dump for this board/SKU (JPR50 LA-M794P Rev 1.0, 15t-e00053dx or similar).
- A verified EC firmware dump for the W25Q80DY chip on this board.
- Ideally from a working unit with matching or close product number (7HVO3UA#ABA or similar).
- If youโve repaired this board before and have known-good firmware, Iโd be grateful for a copy.
๐ What Iโll share
- My original BIOS dump (W25Q128JVSQ)
- My original EC dump (W25Q80DYSIG)
- Programmer details and chip IDs if needed
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Iโm happy to test, verify, and report back results. Let me know if you need any additional identifiers or dump formats.
