Bios for Lenovo legion Y520 with GTX1060

    Hello,

i bought some time ago this laptop from a 2nd party seller, last week wanted to install a VM for ubuntu, but noticed the intel v-tx is disabled.... Ok.... i tried to enter in bios and noticed i have a password..

Did a little bit of walktrough on this forum and found several .bin`s...

    Lenovo Legion Y520-15IKBN

    Model name: 80WK

    Serial : PF0WGSPA

    MTM: 80WK00Y9RI

    Motherboard: DY520 NM-B391 Rev 1.0 , 2017-04-14

    UC3 ( Flash ROM) GD25B64CSIG

I wanted to reset the bios password by tring to reflash the bios chip...

I have attached the original dump for 25B64.

However after several atempts to write the new bin files, my laptop was somehow starting but Black screen.

What was even strange, after i tried to write back the original dump, the behaviour was the same.... nothing on the screen.

I somehow managed to bring the laptop back alive by writing 4KCN45WW.bin , now i can enter bios, but my GTX1060 videocard is not active anymore.... no wonder, because this image i think its for 80YY model

Any sugestions how can i bring back the video card?

you have everything you need at post #21...

remove the bios chip from the motherboard before writing or reading... watch a video as an example...

      Hello Peste,
thank you for your response, however the initial 4KCN45WW.bin file with which i managed to bring back the laptop in a useable state was actualy taken from post 21 in that thread you mentioned.

Just to be sure, i downloaded again the file you mentioned, and compared with the one i already have, they both match!

After i saw the laptop wont display nothing even with the original dump, i considered i have nothing to lose, and tried multiple bins, until i reached the one mentioned....

All the reading/writing was made with the chip off the board.

Any sugestions what can i try? I am even considering to do "frakenstein work" with bins, but not knowing the address space is imposible for me...
