    Dell optiplex 7090 boot problem

Hi masters, need your help in solving this mystery.

i have a dell optiplex 7090 micro that i bought from local kijiji.

when i turn it on, error comes out saying no hard disk.
i go to bios to check the boot option, only httpboot shows. If i try to add boot option, it only shows file search but nothing happens when i click.

i took out the ssd and put it into old laptop and format and installed the windows 10 and put it back into the desktop. It boots up and same error again no hard disk.
it seems as if the computer doesnt recognize the ssd at all. Boot option shows httpboot as the only option.

this is newer style dell bios. No legacy boot option available. No secure boot ensbled either.

how do i make it recognize the ssd? I tried plugging the bootable windows 10 usb, it doesnt recognize either.

    please help

How old is this computer because if it is too old maybe the reason it dose not recognize it I personally have had this issue before and did not find a solution for this issue

What operating system is this computer designed for because there was a period of time where when they went from Windows XP to Windows 7 the next generation of computers were not backward compatible they seem to doing the same thing with Windows 10 to Windows 11 these are not backwards compatible either because unless you have certain chip sets or you can not install Windows 11 which does not impress me very much that they have done the same thing again

I have an issue where I want to use old IDE hard drives on a motherboard that only supports SATA drives yes I can find PCI cards but unfortunately I cannot find any that are compatible with Windows 7 which is what I want to run on this computer Now I can find PCI cards that are Windows XP and this computer can be used on Windows XP the drivers are available from HP which I might have to go that route but we will see if I go down this route or not

unfortunately it is not that old of a system. The pcie nvme that is not being detected is actually what came from the factory and it was working fine.

after long day of trial and error, noticed that the none of the slots are detected when used with different ssd cards whether it being nvme or sata ssd. Also noticed ethernet card is also not working nor is wlan wireless card. When booted up with usb external ssd with win10, i can see errors from device managers with no drivers for these network cards and unknown pci devices error.

So even if i try to connect to the internet using lan cable it wont work…

lost for words here. Can anyone assist?

only thing that was changed in terms of hardware wise is bios was physically removed and replaced to get rid of the biospassword. Computer was bought from local listing with bios password on it.

once the new bios chip was installed and flashed to newest, it does bootup fine with external usb ssd. But seems to have issues with internal components being detected.

the tech who installed bios said it maybe TPM chip that is causing or blocking the internal slots, I highly doubt that is the case… from the search on tpm, i don't believe they actually have a way to block accessing the bus
