    Clevo P170em BIOS 2mb Request

    Hi,

I had an unfortunate accident when I was updating the bios chip for a Clevo P170em and I brick it so I have a CH341a to reprogram the chip but when I tried to flash the official bios from Clevo I see that the official bios is 4mb and the chip says 2mb so the software is all the time saying that it can't be flash because the size.

By any chance someone have the 2mb bios that I can use to flash the chip.

    Thanks

Hi, the chip is this one:

And the stock bios I have from the clevo website are this ones:

But as I mentioned I can't use any of this ones because they file is larger than the chip capacity so don't know how to remove the unnecessary stuff to flash it.

      Thanks

There are 2 chips on your board, 2MB and 4MB.

          Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I tried to check what you said about two chips but I can't find 2 I see the one I post, checking the schematic I see only one.

Also I read the chip I posted first and is completely empty. I tried to follow the instructions to split the bios but probably I'm doing something wrong because I can't it resets the software all the time and is not reading the bios I'm trying to load.

Unable to verify IC or write/erase/flash BIOS file to XMC QH128AHIG SPI chip using NeoProgrammer/AsProgrammer
            by testaccgta
            Hi, everyone!

I've recently acquired two brand new SPI chips to replace the one currently in my Acer A514-54G laptop MB (FH5AT LA-K092P). The reason why I'm replacing the current SPI chip is because I had some difficulties with a third-party IT assistant who pretty much lacked the soldering skills and ended up destroying the current SPI chip soldered to my MB from factory.

I've decided to do this on my own because I spent the past month or so learning some soldering skills and BIOS modding through Badcaps and WinRaid forums, hence the attempt. I've also chosen to buy...

Asus Chromebox CN62 - wrong chip put on BIOS reader
            by BMCappelletti
            Long story short:
            - dad converted Asus Chromebox CN62 into Windows compatible, with mrchromebox BIOS, years and years ago
            - gave the computer to his son a couple years later
            - son now decided to revert it to Chrome OS, to sell it as original (re-writing BIOS with the backup one created by his dad)
            - too lazy to remove the board from the case, thought a voltage regulator was the BIOS chip (you know... it has 8 legs)
(seems like the story was not that short)

He used alligator clips to read the chip. No luck reading it. Removed chip and placed on a SOC-8...

Lenovo laptop does not turn on, what does this number mean in a BIOS chip?
            by thxd43
Hello, first of all, excuse me, I am using the translator, English is not my native language.

            I have a Lenovo ideapad 330S - 14IKB laptop.

The tablet did not recognize me when I connected it, so I checked the device manager and I realized that there were many with the exclamation mark, so one by one I began to update their drivers until the sign disappeared of admiration, I even updated the BIOS, and the laptop rebooted normally and worked, so far so good, but the tablet still did not recognize me, I read on the internet that it could be due to a...

Acer e15-e5-576g-5762 bricked. Bios chip won't interface in AsProgrammer.
            by inck243
Thanks for any help. The board version is DAZAARMB6E0 REV: E. The bios chip is winbond 25Q64JVSIQ1736. W25Q64JV is not available in AsProgrammer -- only BV CV FV or FW_1.8c. The chip won't interface with asProgrammer and a CH341A. When I have this chip on the board, the laptop will not post but when I plug it in to power, the blue LED lights up, also the orange when the battery is connected. When I push the power on button, keyboard backlight turns on and the fan starts briefely then turns off. But I can't do anything to program this bios chip so I bought another one.

            The BIOS...

Elitebook 840 G5 Bios Chip Soldering Question
            by Azurain
            Hi everyone,

I have an HP Elitebook 840 G5 that I am trying to get working again. I've removed the front bios chip (the 32mb one) and have run it through HP unlocker already. I've uploaded and verified the new bin, but am now experiencing an issue that has led me to believe I've been soldering the chip back to the motherboard incorrectly.

Essentially, after re-soldering the chip back into its place and reassembling the laptop, the charging light immediately flashes orange and white and then shifts to a solid white. The capslock and numlock lights blink seven times...
