Hi everyone!
I'm trying to troubleshoot an ASUS X555LD Rev 3.3 motherboard which gives no signs of life (no leds, no power on, nothing at all).
After disassembly I followed the repair guide from another thread and tested several points for shorts, I found shorts to gnd on:
PCE8301: AC_BAT_SYS
PL8100: +3VADSW0
PL8101: +5VSUS0
PL8502: +NVVDD
When connected to the charger I noticed that PU8100 (which is an UP1589Q dual step down chip) was abnormally overheating so I removed it and tried to replace with a new one (which did not fix the issue, also, being my first rework I was not totally sure it was correctly soldered so I removed it again
)
After this I also noticed that when plugged, +19V only reaches PQ8801 mosfet and no voltage is present on PQ8801 nor PR8806.
Is anyone willing to help a complete newbie bring this laptop back to life? Is that even possible or I screwed up? Any help/comment/suggestion would be gladly appreciated!
