Acer laptop has ver very dark screen

I have replaced the screen , the inverter board and disconnected the "screen close" sensor . I have also replaced the cables connecting the lcd to the board .
I still have the same dark screen .
If I connect an external monitor - everything works perfectly .
Somebody has told me about an "sm" cap that is next to a fuse and that we need to bridge the cap .

Anybody heard of this or have any other suggestions ?

I think your CCFL backlight might be dead. Find another screen of the same size and plug the CCFL cable into the inverter on the Acer. Turn the laptop on, if the other screen shows a greyish image, your CCFL needs to be replaced.

Don't mean to be a knob and state the obvious but your power management settings being used could most easily cause this issue. And if you are trying to use it in the sun good luck with that one every screen looks like crap in bright sunlight outside!
