    MBP13 2016 A1706 820-00239-A Charging BUT not detect external drive (NO 5V output)

    All 4 USB-C port have 20v, can charge, turn on fine and work properly BUT doesn't detect external drive / USB on all ports (No 5v output)

    L3500 = 0V / DM = 0.332
    LB700 = 0V / DM = 0.337
    PP5V_S4 = 5V (R3501, R3506, RB701, RB706)
    UPC_X_5V_EN = 0.198V / DM = 0.539
    UPC_T_5V_EN = 0.215V / DM = 0.543

    From schematic, UPC_X_5V_EN & UPC_T_5V_EN sending out from CD3215

    What should i check before replacing CD3215 ??

    If every port is able to negotiate 20v then the CD3215 controllers should be ok.

    You may have a fault with the usb D+ / D- lines.

    Are you using an external usb hub to mate with the type c connector on this logic board?

    Using diode mode, check the values of each D+ and D- lines of the connector. This is for testing the USB 2.0 interface. Perhaps some ESD tvs diodes is blown.

    Which pin are you measuring where the usb is not powered ? Vbus of the USB connector ?

    Do you have a type C power meter ? Is it bidirectional model ?

    In type c products, this logic board is the SINK when powered by another power adapter.

    When an external device is mated, the device should be the sink if USB powered by the logic board.

    Also confirm if using an external usb cable, is it a fully loaded cable with all wires present? Some cables cut cost and remove conductors.

      I'm using simple converter from USB 3.0 to USB-C instead of external hub

        Can you link where you bought this cable ? It is important to know if this cable is properly wired. Is it a branded cable where a wiring diagram can be downloaded ?

        If you connect your USB stick + this type C cable to a power adapter with Type C - does the USB stick receive power ? Or can you attach some USB A style product to validate that power does pass through using this bridge cable ?

          I'm using this converter more than years and working properly.
          I tried to different MacBook Pro (2016 13 Non TouchBar, 2017 13 TouchBar, 2017 15 TouchBar), all working perfect... just plug & detect.

          But in this mac nothing happen (USB converter LED power OFF)

            Strange. I am not convinced that your CD3215s are defective.

            It takes a lot of working hardware to dial up the 20V over the power delivery interface. Since each port is able to select this PD contract, that is a good sign.

            UPC_X_5V_EN = 0.198V / DM = 0.539
            UPC_T_5V_EN = 0.215V / DM = 0.543
            So the buck regulators are being told to remain OFF.

              Y3000 perfect condition, no damage & soldered properly, i even replace it from donor boards to make sure.

              I checked R3007 = 0ohm (correct value)

              Y3000
              pin 1 = 0.388v / DM 0.808
              pin 3 = 0.315v / DM 0.754

              L3500 & LB700 still 0v

              This is just my stupid questions, what if i put/inject power (3.3v) from another sources to UPC_X_5V_EN / UPC_T_5V_EN ??

                1) no, do not inject voltage.

                2) try to reset the SMC:

                Shut down your MacBook.
                Press and hold Shift-Control-Option.
                Press the Power button while holding all three keys.
                Hold the keys for 7 seconds.
                Release all the keys at the same time.
                Boot up your Mac as usual, and the SMC will be reset.

                3) review this thread:
