    HP Pavilion 15-CS0021 Goosed PCH?

I've been chasing a short around the motherboard, finally located a dead short on the 3vs5 rail. Checked the caps at the reg output, all ok out of circuit.

I isolated the output of the reg and put 1V in, 4A draw but nothing really obvious gets hot but after a minute or so the PCH start to get warm.

Without a thermal camera I'm kind of stuck, is it likely to be the CPU? It doesn't get very hot, probably about 30deg but then again there is only 4W draw.

Pour alcohol over the parts you are suspecting. Watch for smoke or the alcohol evaporate with the heat generation. Then repeat to nail down the part that could be the fault.
