    Asus X509FJ-EJ115T (X409FB rev 2.0) - Bad capacitor

    Hi,

    Have an Asus X509FJ-EJ115T (X409FB rev 2.0),
the laptop weren't powering on, found a bad capacitor (short to ground) after a quick search.
I want to replace a new one but don't know it's rating (couldn't find any boardview / scheme).
Can some one help me find what capacitor to solder instead of the bad one? (picture attached)

Post the markings on the cap that was removed. Include a picture as well.

The capacitance and voltage will be marked on the capacitor sleeve. From those markings, can proceed to search for a proper replacement.

Is the bad cap the missing one or in the lower right of the logic board ?

For the lower right side, post a closer pic including the IC markings near these parts so the IC can be identified.

It's a smd capacitor. The voltage on him is 19V
In the new attached photo Iv'e allready removed it - the laptop works, but I want to put a new one.

        Good pic - it helps.

The local switching regulator is the one with the markings of "2N=6C".

This part is from Richtek. Next, need to hunt down the datasheet. I know there is a lookup table for Richtek regulators somewhere on this forum...

found it through my black belt in Google-fu; Sensei should be proud.

Datasheet is attached. Next, need to study their typical appnote for a possible replacement part.

        See attached.

Can you power down and confirm that the IC with "2N=6C" is pin # 15 that is linked to this missing cap ?

Believe it is the LGATE1 pin.

Update - in zooming in more, it may be the UGATE1 pin # 16 ?

Yeah, it's (#16) going to to Gate pin of the MOSFET.

so, if I'm not mistaking it's C1 at hte datasheet, 10uF?

Replaced with 10uF eventually, working good so far.

mon2 thank you very much for your help!!!
