    Asus K55a no sound

Hiya, first time diagnosing a fault in a laptop.... During the lockdown I had an incident with my Asus k55a ... I mistakenly tried to record audio from a Tandberg 4000x reel to reel to the Mic socket.. Of course it was way too loud and straight after i noticed, the laptops audio had died.....no sound in or out....
I thought I might have a go at fixing it but lack of any useful information and no answer from Asus or Realtek hasn't helped.
So far I've replaced the input output PCB and even the Realtek RTL277 codec chip with no success.
Can you guys give me any help or hints where to go next? The drivers are installed and working, Windows 8.1's sound bars and systems are working fine.
A USB sound device works but is quite limited and wont allow VST's and other features I need to function.

    Regards Paul

hi. have limited information on this logic board but can see that the Realtek audio controller is based on USB 3.0 / 2.0 interface.

    1) Can you confirm that you see this Realtek ALC277 in your device manager? If you do not, there could be an issue with the USB interface leading to this controller or the ALC277 itself.

    2) Can you take some clear pix of the area where the ALC277 is located? Have a boardview file but with no details on their part numbers or references.

Audio data between PCH and audio codec IC goes through Intel HD Audio bus, not USB.

Too close text to the diagram. Thought it was USB 3.0

These are the images of the sound chip and local area on both sides of the board....

I have replaced this ALC277 and the transistor in the pics. The 2.5v zener diode was checked too ....cant see anything blown or got hot or anything that looks like an opto package

I suppose it's got to be something in common between the Mic, output and jacks as none work. The codec chip was my first suspect but it's reported as okay, doesn't get hot and is installed correctly ...

Had exactly the same problem in my Asus x550c and it was faulty audio jack (one pin/badge inside audio jack had crack). If u still haven't fixed ( i know your last post wast nearly 2 yr ago), try to bridge pin 5 & 6 (worked for me)
