acer aspire 4349 burnt component

I need help on this the component pu1 is burnt, so i removed it and removed the short laptop is working fine now without that component, CM1293A-04SO.my question is what this component do?and it is ok to plugged in back the batttery and power on without that component?please help attached is the schematic and screen shot

Hi. The component is there to protect the interface lines from transient damage that may occur from electrostatic discharge (esd). Such events are shunted to safe levels.

The logic board will function without the part but then there is no esd surge voltage protection.

Recommend to locate the part and place onto the board. Till then, use the logic board with care.

@mon2 thanks for the response on the burnt chip it totally broken traces and cannot find same chip on scrap board,can i plugged the battery and turn on the laptop?

As long as the traces are not shorting, the logic board will work without this chip.

The missing part is there to protect the data lines from surge events.
