Pegatron D15D Akoya E6416 no power on

Hello all,

I have another laptop here which has a power problem. MEDION Akoya E6416.

CPU is i3-5010U.

When I plug it in it will power on for about 1 second time, but turn of then.

When I press the power button after about 10 seconds of pause I can start the board again, but it will shut down after 1 second again - sometimes it also stays on longer like 3 seconds.
When I wait again for some time I can start again and the same thing happens.

Same thing with battery, charging light comes and for a short time, goes off and starts to charge again.

BIOS and EC were flashed with a hopefully good dump from the forum. No change at all.

As far as I could test +3,3V and +5V are present all the time and do not collapse.

I saw on the connector of the battery that I have around 3 volts all the time and when the charging light comes on it starts to climb - I saw something like 16 volts?! Looks like the voltage is growing too high and then shuts down because of protection? Could this be the issue?

Could you please help me or do I have to purchase a new board?

It looks like it is a 4S cells battery so it's normal to have a charging voltage of around 16.6V-17.0V. However if the voltage on the battery connector is very low or close to 0V when AC adapter is disconnected (but battery is connected), then the battery is bad. It should be above 13V, preferably around 15V if battery is decently charged.

You can leave it plugged in overnight to see if it recovers, but battery probably has to be replaced.
Of course make sure you are using a working AC adapter of correct power rating.

I just saw that it tries to generate the VCore voltage when the power light comes on, but then it goes off.

But resistance in both power supplies for CPU is okay, around 50 ohms.

Which one did you flash it with, can you post your original bios backup in the Bios requests section .

Have you tried a working AC adapter of correct power rating as piernov suggested ? .

Of course. I used a 90W power supply, label says that only 65W is necessary. Also tried a laboratory supply which can deliver up to 10 amps.

Ok. Check every single mosfet on the board,they`re a known point of failure on cheap pegatron boards.

Hello,
I also have a Medion Akoya E6416 MD99560 that turns on and works, but at some point it turns off and doesn't turn on straight away, I have to wait hours or a day for it to turn on again.
Where is the problem?
