    Strange issue with Lenovo Ideapad

I've got a Lenovo Ideapad 310-15ISK notebook with a rather strange issue. Whenever the power adapter is plugged in, image goes off. After extensive testing, here is what I have found:

    - It is not software related as it happens outside OS, like in BIOS boot menu. Also the behaviour is different inside and outside OS. If I plug the charger outside the OS, it turns image off, and the unplugging I get image again. Inside the OS (Windows 10), it goes to sleep mode, so I need to press power button to get it off sleep mode inside Windows 10

    - This model has both Intel graphics and nVIDIA. I can set the default graphics in BIOS, but this problem occurs regardless of what I chose.

    - BIOS has been updated, did not solve the issue.

    - The computer does not start with charger plugged in, only with battery

    - With another charger, same issue

    - I have disconnected the internal battery, and using only with charger works fine,

    - Strangely after disconnecting the battery and connecting it again, the notebook seems to work fine again, with the charger plugged there is image, but after a few minutes screen off, and back to the same.

    - Battery charges completely even with the screen off, and has an excellent usage time.

I was wondering if the problem maybe related to the Super IO chip.

    - CMOS reset did nothing to help

The EC (Super I/O) is a ITE IT8586E and can be programmed by keyboard connector.

That's a weird one. The actual symptoms make it sounds like it is related to lid sensor, but I don't really see the connection with the AC adapter…
Might be a good idea to measure the lid sensor signal on battery and on AC to see if there's a difference.

      If there's a BIOS/EC update, try it.

Re: Strange issue with Lenovo Ideapad

Like I said, BIOS has been updated to the latest version available at Lenovo, no change.

What makes it strange to me is that after disconnecting the battery and reconnecting again it will work fine for some minutes, and then back to the same again. If it was some dead part it should not work at all.

Also I did try to disable all sleep options in Windows, and best I could get was in safe mode not to sleep when plugging charger, just turning screen off, and then after unplugging image was back, and even that was only once. I tried again, and image was not back automatically when unplugging charger, had to press the power to wake.

Have you update the bios with a programmer ?

That it is what I am thinking although it is not easy to find it. And also I have to get from some place that allows returns.

No, BIOS was updated using Lenovo's BIOS update utility. But the issue was present before updating the BIOS.

The ME firmware doesn`t get updated ,just the bios region. Trythe ME firmware
