    Asus ROG G771JW questions

So i have posted about this laptop before, in my journey to fix it. However my journey took a huge detour when i got too comfortable with my motherboard repairing skills, and like the rookie i am, managed to put an 18650 3.7v battery to my Haswell i7 processor.

Thinking there was a short to ground, but literally creating a short to ground myself. VCORE which is the 3 coils that connect to the cpu on the motherboard, shows a direct short to ground, insisting to me that the processor is fried internally and dead.

However, my knowledge of these processors internals is limited, and i'm wondering if theres any way i can possibly ressurect the i7. As buying a new one from china, and getting a stencil for it, as well as paste and such is a complicated project i dont think im ready to partake in, as well as its quite expensive for these mobile processors.

If anyone knows what could have likely happend, and if i can do anything that could possibly fix this please let me know. Main information i can give, Origninal VCORE Ohms to ground, before battery voltage was applied, 25 ohms. Current ohms of vcore are basically direct short to ground with 1~0 ohms(i know 0 ohms is impossible but its what my multimeter says xD).

Laptop works except for the processor.

Resistance to gnd on vcore coils is always low. you made a blunder by putting 3.6v on cpu which operates on max 1.5v. So your cpu is definitely fried. Look for a new mb.

If the CPU is dead there is nothing you can do. Some mad people would replace the CPU but you need a really good BGA rework station, experience, the actual CPU (and it's very expensive) and a bit of luck because the new CPU could die easily.

If you feel lucky and don't mind going for a core i5, there are a couple of motheboards on eBay for $230 from random Chinese sellers. (but at this price, it's hard to put any trust on them) Search for G771JM, same motherboard.
