    Re: Acer aspire e1-431 problem

Pls I have issue with this same board
Is working properly with adapter but not power with battery.
The battery is charging if adapter is plugged with battery and if I power it, it will still power and if I remove the charger while system is working it will not off.
But anytime I try to power with only charger, the amber light will just be blinking 5 times.
The gate voltage of the switching MOSFET is normal battery MOSFET no short.
Kindly help I've stressed too much on it.

      Re: Acer aspire e1-431 problem

What is the gate voltage pin #4 to ground of the battery mosfet @ PQ31 when using only the battery?

This is a P-channel mosfet so gate voltage must be lower than the source / drain voltage to enable.

If required, do not attach the adapter -> then using only the battery -> use a piece of wire and short the pin #4 gate pin to ground of this mosfet. This will force the P-channel battery mosfet to enable.

Does the logic board power on with this method? Again, do not attach the power adapter under this condition.

Do measure the smbus pin line voltage to ground on the battery connector. Each line cannot be stuck else the battery is not visible to the logic board.

        Re: Acer aspire e1-431 problem

Thanks so much for your usual response.
        I've done it.
The vcc was getting 3v instead of 12v when only battery is attached. I traced it back and I noticed a diode(pd1) is causing the problem.
And once I replaced it my system power with battery only
