ThinkPad T420 motherboard (nVidia GPU) failure prone?

"The T420 can be configured with a Discrete NVIDIA NVS 4200M (1GB VRAM) GPU with Optimus technology that can automatically switch between the integrated and discrete GPU to provide peak performance without sacrificing battery life."

That GPU isn't affected by the bug that affected Core2-based nVidia laptops right?

PS: Is Optimus supported by Linux?

So, laptop works fine, but occasionally getting a thin line in the screen that moves or disappears when I manipulate the hinge. bad panel or bad cable between screen and mobo?

I decided to go with Windows 7, not Linux, so nevermind that question.

Also, how does this work? The touchpad is rather worn - does this sticker go over it, or how do I apply it?
