Sony Viao - NO USB

Hi all,

Have a Sony Viao - VPCEB3J1E running windows 7 64bit

USB's all dead in it, were working perfect then boom, gone ..
Coming "USB Device Not Recognised" so i presumed its a driver error/problem..

In device manager, the usb drivers are fine but in - other devices -
"Base System Device" and "Ethernet Controller" are both showing warnings..

Downloaded all drivers from sony website but still no joy..

Any ideas.?

first check the pins . may be one is linked to ground

How do you mean.?
Ive it stripped now - they look fine..

Although the latch holding the ribbon attacting that mini board that houses the usb's and audio doesnt seem to closed properly, like the ribbon cable is to thick, il clean, tape and reassemble to see - will post pics if unsuccesful..

do you have multimeter ??? check if you got 5v at pin 1 of all usb ports

Got it sorted..
Seems like it was just the ribbon cable that had moved a bit because the cable is too thick and the latch wasnt closed properly - this wrecked my head for ages, thinking it was a driver prob..
Simple fix afterall, just re-align cable and tape it closed..
