Hi everyone,
before I spend money on a T48 programmer I would like to get a confirmation from people who worked on this exact model.
Laptop: HP ProBook 650 G5
Mainboard: COCONUT-6050A3028501-MB-A01(A1)
CPU: Intel core i5-8265U
What I have found on the board:
Chip 1: Winbond 25Q128JVPQ @ WSON8 6×5 mm -> this should be the main BIOS right?
Chip 2: winbond 25Q256JVEQ @ WSON8 8×6 mm -> this should be the main EC right?
What I already tried (without success):
CH341A (black version with 3.3 V) + 6×5 mm pogo-pin test clip
As soon as the clip touches the 6×5 mm chip the power LED on the board goes off, CH341A disappears from USB
Completely drained the board (battery out, CMOS battery out, power button 30 s, waited 30 min)
Tried different USB ports, different laptops
My goal:
I need to dump and reflash both chips (main BIOS + EC) because of a forgotten admin password.
My question to the experts here:
Does the XGecu T48 (TL866-3G) handle in-circuit programming of both WSON8 chips on this board without the overload/USB-disconnect problem that the CH341A has?
Or will I run into the exact same issue because the board pulls too much current over the 3.3 V rail?
I already own a 6×5 mm pogo-pin test clip and 8×6 mm pogo-pin test clip. Sadly I don't have the tools or skills for hot air soldering, so I'm relying on those pogo-pin test clips.
I just want to avoid buying the T48 and then having the same frustration as with the CH341A.
Thanks a lot in advance!
