Hi everyone,
I’m trying to troubleshoot a Dell Vostro P102F and could use your expertise.
Symptoms:
Question: I’ve attached a video of the thermal camera footage. Is this thermal signature on the GPU normal when plugging in the 19V power supply, or does it indicate a short circuit/failure in the GPU?
Any insights would be greatly appreciated—thanks in advance!
TL;DR: Does the video show normal behavior when plugging in the 19V power, or is the GPU likely shorted/faulty?
I’m trying to troubleshoot a Dell Vostro P102F and could use your expertise.
Symptoms:
- When I plug in the power supply, I measure a current draw of 26mA. The battery charge LED flashes white very briefly, then nothing.
- Pressing the power button lights the LED orange only while the button is held; it turns off when released.
- I haven’t found any obvious short circuits. I tested voltage injection at 1V on the power rails and detected no abnormal current draw.
- Using a thermal camera, I noticed the embedded GPU area heats up slightly when the board is powered via the standard 19V power port.
