Hello. Somewhat on topic - back from the recent HK Mobile fair. Perhaps of interest to readers:
1) Replacement batteries and LCD displays are now available that no longer pop warn the end user of the replacement units. Truetone and the IC are present on the replacement devices. JCID and a few others noted this offering. One LCD vendor noted that this solution is not legal but the ID IC being installed is from the same factory used by the OEM.
2) Met with JCID in Shenzhen - they now have solutions (P15) to take a blank SSD device and configure the part to upgrade the SSD inside of iphones / iPads / Macbooks. Yes, you can purchase pre-flashed SSD devices from Aliexpress, etc. but then locked to this custom configuration. The s/w allows for pull-down to select the machine model and then you can simply replace and upgrade the logic board to the desired density. From my understanding, I2C has a clone of this tool but we wish to support the real engineers behind this solution.
3) TBK now offers a low cost X-RAY machine (desktop) to inspect solder joints of TQFP / WLCSP / BGA, etc. devices - around $2500 USD. Being X-RAY, safety is important and also the lifetime of the X-RAY bulb. They noted the replacement bulb is ~$750 USD at the fair. TBK also also has a mix of laser tools to remove for example, the LCD from the midframe without damage to the LCD display in seconds.
Would love to see a FPC solder tool to fix the vertical lines on the same iphone / LCDs at a low cost...
PS: Very much off topic - We are 99.999% confident that Simone Ashley (Bridgerton - have not seen this show yet) - walked right by us @ LeBua Tower lobby after we had our breakfast at this location.
