This is a Predator PT516-51s laptop, serial number is rubbed off. Board is LA-L211P Rev 1A. Charging light is on, machine draws 2.8a lid closed. If I press the power button, I get a blue power light indicator about 5 seconds, then it goes back off. I pulled the board to discover that with battery and AC connected, battery mosfet 1 light up under thermal. I then verified a short to ground on battery mosfet 2 source. If I inject voltage there, my PSU goes to current limit, but nothing illuminates on the board - anywhere, either side. I removed mosfet 2 but still have the ground short at source. To rule out the BQ chip, I removed it, but the short remains. I have put back the BQ and mosfet 2 and am here for higher-level guidance. I'm also a little confused, because it appears BATFET1 is fed power to drain, but its source then connects to BATFET2 drain.
Resistance Measurements:
BATFET1:
GATE > S = 120k
GATE > D = 2.6M
S > D = 2.4M
GATE > GND = 6M
S > GND = 9M
D > GND = 50k
BATFET2:
GATE > S = 195k
GATE > D = 1.4M
S > D = 1M
GATE > GND = 195k
S > GND = .1
D > GND = 3.6M
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
